Low temperature

What does it mean when you have a lower fever than usual?

My husband usually has a pretty consistent body temperature of around 97, and he gets a high fever exceedingly rarely, even when he's sick.

Right now, he's feeling, in his words, "weird." He can't pinpoint what it is exactly, but he feels off--and his body temperature is around 95.

Do any of you guys have any idea what could cause such a low body temp? Should I be concerned?

According to this Mayo Clinic Q&A, there are a host of things that can cause a person's body temperature to drop, some serious and some not-so-serious. I think a temporary reduction in body temperature is probably nothing to worry about, but if it persists (and/or if the weird/off feeling continues or worsens) then it might not be a bad idea to get things checked out by a medical professional. (I am not one, just to be clear. My advice is strictly amateur. :) )

Does he have health insurance? I know my insurance has a nurse line that I've called before to get a professional opinion after hours -- if that's an option, that might be a helpful way to get some professional advice tonight.

I hope he feels better soon. :)
